PATH2LC's ONLINE TALK #2 : Cities going circular

Cities going circular: the role of local authorities in avoiding, preventing and reducing the consumption of resources

Urban territories through their daily functioning generate and are crossed by important flows of materials and energy with a strong environmental and social impact. This is the case with building materials, waste or resources such as water and food production.
These resources are sometimes produced locally but most of them are imported. The dependence of the territories on imported resources have a big impact on their vulnerability to climate change. Nevertheless, there are opportunities to minimise input and output flows and find some synergies within and across territories.

In this webinar, we will hear from the city of Maribor in Slovenia, leading the Urban Soil 4 Food project (IUA project) with 3 main goals: change the material flow, reach food sovereignty and increase societal awareness. The city of Prato in Italy will also share its experience on sustainable and circular re-use of spaces and buildings in cooperation with the Urban Agency for Re-Use.
